The Love Of Flowers
Flowers date back to prehistoric times evidenced with the discovery of flower fossils. Discovered in burial sites of Neanderthals, the presence of much sediment pollen which indicates there were abundant flowers even that long ago. Flowers play a large role our lives; they’re used to express our feelings, moods, commemorate occasions and are part of our rituals. Over the centuries they have been depicted in many forms on art, books, sculpture, tapestry and music, with the most opulent examples having been produced between the 17th and 19th century with such accuracy and expressing their great beauty. In Victorian England, they were used like a language; their scent and particular varieties represented certain messages. Studies carried out at Rutgers university show that flowers are a powerful mood ‘inducer’ both immediate and long term. So don’t save buying fresh flowers for special occasions and fill your home with them as often as you can. Whether you buy them cut and arrange them yourself or uncut in pots from your local market, wholesaler (look for ones in your area) or you grown them yourself, bring them into your life. Living and loving flowers is a beautiful experience!
