RedEspresso®: South African Espresso, No Caffeine: Red Gold!

Review by Angela Tunner

Many of us have heard of Rooibos tea but did you know that it is available as a coffee alternative!? The first time I tasted RedEspresso® , the world’s first tea espresso, I was in love. All the bold, robust taste of espresso without the caffeine. Fabulous! Made from Rooibos (pronounced ROY-bos) Africaans for ‘red bush’ rooibos tea is actually a member of the legume family. This broom like plant grows in South Africa and has needle like leaves and is grown only in a small region of the Western Cape province. The founder of the company, Carl Pretorius a farmer and an ex-coffee junkie conscious of the toll his coffee habit was taking on his body, created RedEspresso®. After months of experimentation, this drink typically consumed as a tea, was especially processed to enable it to be made like espresso!

RedEspresso® is Caffeine-Free and Fabulous!

Well, espresso lovers, gird thy selves, because there is a beverage to fall in love with and its caffeine free! RedEspresso® is a tea but this beverage is no wimp. Great flavor, very robust, never bitter, slightly sweet, smooth; when you’re looking for that coffee feel this drink doesn’t disappoint. Even a staunch coffee drinker I shared it with was bowled over with the taste and it satisfied his need for something strong in his cup. Not one complaint was even heard that it wasn’t actual coffee! It was also noted that unlike many coffee alternatives it also did not have the odd bitter taste or strange aftertaste. Red Espresso was just plain good and you couldn’t wait to have it again! It dances on the taste buds and fully satisfies. It also came with a pleasant effect, one that I can only describe as a surge of goodness once it hit my tongue and permeated my system. What a great sensation! It’s arrival really stirred up the household and elicited great squeals from Wee One as he was finally able to have a latte with us. He loves it too and asks for his special latte drink. We tried it hot, cold, as a latte, cappuccino and just on its own, RedEspresso® is a winner!

It is available around the globe in coffee shops and for home purchase available through retailers or through online distributors. Whether you can’t drink coffee but love it, need something for those times when you’ve indulged too much but still want that coffee feel or are just looking for a different beverage to add to your collection, calling all Coffee lovers… it’s time to discover RedEspresso®!

  1. Absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on this product! I am an espresso fanatic but lately have been feeling the effects of too much caffeine. Thanks for the review

    • Rebecca,
Oh, it is so terrific! It is truly a great solution to satisfy that coffee fix without the caffeine.
Sept 4, 2010 – Note: I see on the RedEspresso site that they are temporarily out of stock. It is sold at coffee shops across the USA and worldwide, so ask for it. Many not only sell the drinks, but you can buy some to take home. Would love to know what you think once you’ve succeeded in getting some!
      Eat. Love. Savor.
