MadridModern. Historical. Romantic. Cultural. Words to describe this fascinating city. Madrid, Spain has been occupied since pre-historic times and the origins of the modern city, starting with the palace, date back to the 9th century. You’ll find Madrid awash with green spaces and parks; with a large one in central Madrid. Located in the Atocha Railway Station, the city’s central rail station is a 4,000 square meter indoor garden filled with tropical plants and is a destination for plant lovers to visit its hothouse and see the 500 species of plant life. There are also ponds, goldfish, shops and cafes. The Madrid BuildingsRoyal Botanical Gardens built in the 18th-century, are a collection of plants from across the globe and a location where herbal remedies are developed. Culturally the city is a destination for spectacular museums, art galleries, with a wide swing from ancient through very modern art, a bustling night life, shopping, architecture, classical music and opera, and of course bull fighting (if you are into watching that kind of thing). Take a virtual trip to Madrid with this video. For more travel information visit this site. No travel destination is complete without discovering their cuisine; aside from the well known Tapas, and the chocolaterias (con churros, of course! and for breakfast – they are serious chocolate lovers!) the food of Madrid is said to be hearty and rich. Madrid Spain is a culturally satisfying and total olfactory experience destination!
